Met with skepticism.  Seen as unrealistic.

Radical long-term project.

Requires the collection and interpretation of data that might be difficult.

 

Checklist.

1.  Understand six Sigma.  Deviation, how a process varies from the mean or average.

Continuous reduction in variation.

Avoiding future variations.  Designed for production correctly.

Designed the product with a minimum opportunity for error.

2.  Focus on organizational culture and prepare for change management.

Six Sigma will be a major change.

Six Sigma is implemented with project teams.

A culture of creative thinking will help.

3.  Decide on the extent of implementation.

Some companies do it by a limited amount.

4.  Now select key personnel for training.

Green belt, black belt, master black belt. Each level increases in knowledge.

5.  Bring the six Sigma teams into action.
