What is BATC
BATC is a acronym for Bay Area Training Corporation. A non profit company established through the efforts of the major refineries situated in the San Francisco -Bay Area of Northern California. BATC has developed and is administering a safety orientation program that is common to all six member refineries. The refineries see this as an opportunity for the Bay Area’s labor and business communities to work together to enhance safety conditions within the workplace.
The BATC Contractor Process Safety Management (CPSM) addresses the issue of improving refinery operations within the community in an efficient cost-effective manner. By effecting a standardized system, all workers are ensured of receiving the "basics" and duplication of training efforts are avoided. The CPSM does not relieve contracting firms of any other regulatory and training requirements.
Programs
The Contractor Process Safety Management (CPSM) is an eight hour course presented two ways: either two evening of four hours each or an all day eight hour class. A course completion card is presented upon completion of the eight hours of training. All individuals attending a BATC orientation must be able to demonstrate comprehension of the English language and materials presented or the course cannot be completed. The course is only given in English. A post quiz is given at the end of the course which you must pass by a minimum of 70%.
